Timothy Mowl is Professor of History of Architecture & Designed Landscapes in the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Bristol, and Director of the Institute.
Philip White, Chief Executive of Hestercombe Gardens Trust, rediscovered the
lost Georgian landscape garden in 1992. It was opened to the public in
1997, together with the Victorian Terrace and famous Edwardian
Lutyens-Jekyll formal gardens. Restoration continues on all the gardens
with generous help from Heritage Lottery funding.
Stephen Bann has been Professor of History of Art at Bristol since 2000, Fellow of the British Academy, Senior Fellow of Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collections (Landscape and Garden Studies section), Washington DC, and Trustee, Little Sparta Trust.
Sir Andrew Burns is Chairman of Hestercombe Gardens Trust. Chairman of the Council at Royal Holloway, University of London. A former British diplomat, he was High Commissioner in Canada, Ambassador to Israel and Consul-General in Hong Kong and Macau.
Sir John Beringer is a biological scientist who retired from the University of Bristol in 2005, having spent the last four years as a Pro Vice-Chancellor with a major responsibility for research. He is chairman of the John Innes Centre Governing Council and a member of the Council for Science and Technology.
